Characteristics of team

Sunswift consists of a team of 40 undergraduate students from The University of New South Wales, dedicated to building the world's most advanced solar electric vehicles. Our team draws from a multitude of backgrounds ranging from various engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical and photovoltaics, to business students and finally industrial design students. The biggest challenge we face is time. Every Sunswift member must balance the demands of building a solar vehicle capable of meeting the needs of the modern transport industry, with the workload of full time university education. Exam periods are always a concern.

Team's "ambitions"
for this year's BWSC

Our ambitions for 2017 and beyond are as follows:
- Place first in the BWSC17 Cruiser Class
- Build the most aesthetically pleasing and comfortable vehicle
- Place first in the 2018 Sasol Solar Challenge Cruiser Class
- Break an endurance based world record for electric vehicles
- Inspire the next generation to take up engineering and innovation
- Learn skills and knowledge we would otherwise have not had the opportunity to learn

Bridgestone is proud to be developing tyres for the supported teams participating in The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. The event traverses some of the harshest terrains in the world. Preparation by the teams of their vehicles and equipment is critical for safe driving and reliability. Our Engineers help the competitors to tune their vehicles to manage the factors such as the speeds, heat and distance they will encounter during the event.
