Characteristics of team

Since the establishment of our team in 2009 and our decision to create cars with ingenuity, we have developed vehicles under the slogans of designing “Kogakuin University originals” and “the only one.” We believe that our new car also has plenty of originality. The 306 students in our team are active not only in racing, but also in events such as science classes for children and other engagements that positively contribute to society. Our team operates with the intention of raising interest among the children who will shape our future.

Team's "ambitions"
for this year's BWSC

“Toward the future with our wings, in harmony with nature” is the catch-phrase we are using this year. Our new car features shapes taken from nature. Our solar panel "wing" is a combination of naturally beautiful three-dimensional airflow curves and human solar panels. We hope you will enjoy our solar car incorporating the beauty of nature. Because of the distinct feature of our solar panel-covered upper body, we decided to name our solar car “Wing.”

We raise awareness and promote the significance of the BWSC to public by putting solar cars on display at events and exhibitions. As we did for the previous event, we opened our test course in Tochigi Prefecture for teams to perform test runs with their new machines before the actual event begins.

The BWSC is an excellent opportunity to communicate with students from different countries. There may be a language barrier, but be sure to stay proactive in speaking with your fellow solar car enthusiasts and other future engineers just like yourselves. Motivate each other and share your excitement. Don’t forget that you will all become rivals once the race begins, so do your best to rank as high as possible!
