Characteristics of team

Our team is composed of over 60 undergraduate and graduate students, beyond the borders of departments and fields of study. We receive support from members of the faculty, as well as former team members who have already graduated.
In addition to racing activities, we are also proactively spreading out the fun of science to children who will shape the future, as how this solar car development represents.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of Tokai University, which is why the students, the faculty, and our alumni and all are wishing for our victory.
To make this wish come true, we will come together as one and do all the best to win the 2017 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.

Team's "ambitions"
for this year's BWSC

Our main goal is to win the race this year. We also aim to create one of the best solar cars in the world and positively contribute to the development of solar power and other forms of sustainable energy. We would also like to show the children how science is interesting by winning the race.
To feel the emotion and excitement of 2009 and 2011 winning two times in a row, we will enter the race as the Challenger once again.
We want to show the world the spirit and technical excellence of Tokai University and of Japan.
We want to experience that success awaits on layers and layers of perfect preparations, by challenging ourselves to win this BWSC17.

Message from Bridgestone
to Japan Teams

Bridgestone Corporation

Rui Yamamoto

We raise awareness and promote the significance of the BWSC to public by putting solar cars on display at events and exhibitions. As we did for the previous event, we opened our test course in Tochigi Prefecture for teams to perform test runs with their new machines before the actual event begins.

The BWSC is an excellent opportunity to communicate with students from different countries. There may be a language barrier, but be sure to stay proactive in speaking with your fellow solar car enthusiasts and other future engineers just like yourselves. Motivate each other and share your excitement. Don’t forget that you will all become rivals once the race begins, so do your best to rank as high as possible!
